State Farm, Fall 2009

The advertising capstone course at Ball State entails a semester-long team project that models the normal flow of an advertising campaign. Knowledge from prior courses in Media, Research Strategy, Copy and Layout, Branding, and New Media.

For this campaign, State Farm was still the industry leader in automobile insurance, but was falling behind in the young adult market. The 18- to 25 year-old demographic was choosing direct insurers over State Farm because of lower cost and more conveniences like free price quotes and 24/7 claim service.

Janet served as art director, ensuring congruency in theme, adherence to the creative brief and tying up all loose ends in the plans book. Janet was also in charge of new media, search engine advertising and other web-presence techniques. The campaign was unveiled in a 20-minute presentation to fellow students and professors.

Our Kids (Adoption Service), Spring 2009

$500M budget media plan created for a sub-adoption agency in Florida. The two main objectives were to brand OurKids with a positive identity in the community and also increase the number of children adopted each year.

I was in charge of social media presence, online media placement, and streamlining the campaign. We presented the campaign to the client via video conference and in the company of other ad students and professors.
